The first professional leadership role is that of the Divemaster. You have propbably already been on a guided dive with a Divemaster as your guide and all round helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, problem solving dive guide. This is precisely the role of the Divemaster. You can choose to enroll on the Divemaster Course or alternatively you can participate in a Divemaster Internship.

Once you have passed the course, there is an initial professional registration fee that is paid direct to the training agency, followed by an annual registration fee to maintain your active professional status.

The Divemaster Course prepares you with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely guide and assist certified divers on recreational scuba dives. You will discover the full extent of the Divemaster role as professional dive guide and good role model both to student divers and certified divers, actively promoting diving that protects the world's oceans, waterways and life.
In addition you'll learn how to assist Instructors when they are teaching students and whenever possible you will assist on a course. You will develop and practice skills such as dive site assessment, diver evaluation and risk assessment and also pre-dive checks, dive briefings and de-briefings, how to guide and manage a group of divers and how to problem solve and assist a certified diver with they have difficulties both in- and out- of the water.
There will be in-water assessements, diver skills circuits and workshops, assisting on courses, dive theory and a final exam.
Two weeks packed full of fun learning as you develop your skills to the professional level of Divemaster.
Your Divemaster Internship is your opportunity to learn alongside our team of highly experienced and skilled instructors and be mentored for up to three months.
If you don't meet all of the Divemaster Course prerequisites then the Divemaster Internship is a great way to meet them, whilst learning and developing your diver skills and in turn your Divemaster leadership skills and professionalism.

Whilst on your internship you will complete all the prerequisite courses, gaining valuable experience as a diver and student diver that benefit you as you progress through your internship.
You will complete four diver specialties:
- Deep Diver so that you are experienced at diving to the recreational maximum depth of 40m;
- Navigation so you know how to get there & back again;
- Night & Limited/Low Visibilty valuable experience needed for guiding night dives and in conditions that are less than optimal;
- Nitrox Diver course so you understand the benefits & limitations of
Nitrox as you & others will be diving on it.
As well as all the specialty courses and the DM course requirements you will learn how a dive centre operates. From meeting & greeting the divers, planning the diving, problem solving for them, guiding their choice of courses or equipment sales through to filling cylinders, maintaining the diving equipment and keeping the dive centre well maintained, stocked & clean, and much more!

Continuing your professional develop to become an Assistant Instructor, you will gain valuable additional knowledge & skills.

These will enable you to teach the confined open water diver skills to uncertified divers and to teach a range of specialty courses to certified divers too. This is great preparation for taking the Instrutor Development Training Course and the final Instructor Examination.
You can either complete the Assistant Instructor course or you can add it on to your Divemaster Internship.

To offer the full diver course experience to your student divers you'll need to become an Instructor in CPR, First Aid, AED use and emergency oxygen provision too. You'll be able to combine teaching the Rescue Course and the CPR etc. all at the same time, making for a far more realistic course and fun learning experience.
By becoming a First Response Instructor with FRIT (First Response International Training), you'll not only be certified to teach student divers, but you'll also be certified to teach anyone as the course is international recognised. You could offer First Response workplace training to local businesses and have yourself a whole new business opportunity.
