Learn to Dive with IWS

Learn to dive wtih Island Watersports Dive Centre and you'll have lots of fun, a fantastic and memorable holiday, followed by lots more fun diving holidays!

Our house reef is sheltered and shallow and is absolutely ideal for learning to dive and as you'll be in the Atlantic Ocean, who knows what you might see passing by!

The SSI Open Water Diver Course

The SSI Open Water Diver course is the full introductory scuba divng course, that teaches you all the foundational knowledge and skills to enable you to safely dive with a buddy to 18m. The diving theory is all completed online before you come and if there's something you don't understand then your friendly IWS instructor team is here to help. It usually takes 4-5 days to complete.

Learn to dive in Lanzarote with the safe, friendly IWS Team. The SSI Open Water Diver Course takes 4-5 days so it's best to book in advance.

You can complete your e-learning before your arrive and then we'll be able to jump straight in (well you'll find that we actually stride in rather than jump!).

Skills include: mask clearing, regulator recovery, kit removal and replace, neutral buoyancy, different entry/exit techniques, descents and ascents, buddy checks, emergency procedures, and much more...

Everything you need is included in the price: e-learning, dive equipment and insurance.

If you are short on time then perhaps the Supervised Scuba Diver course is for you, as it is a sub-set of the Open Water Course and takes only 2-3 days. Upon completion you will be certified to dive with a dive professional to a depth no greater than 12m.

SSI Scuba Diver course

The SSI Scuba Diver course is a subset of the full Open Water Diver course and takes only 2-3 days to complete; perfect when time is short.

If time is short we can jump in straight away however the e-learning must be completed that first day. You'll learn the core fundamentals of diving theory and some core scuba skills too.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do before I come?

You need to complete your e-learning and then sign, date and return your diver training forms and medical form. If you need to be seen by a physician but did not have time to see one before you come over, then we can organise for a diver medical here on the island for only 25,00 Euros.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please come wearing your swimwear under your clothes and bring a towel & sun protection with you. We also love it when you come with enthusiasm and focus as your learning buddies.

How do I upgrade from Scuba Diver to Open Water Diver? What is the cost?

Please send us a copy of your training form, if you have one, so that we can see exactly which skills you have already completed. If you don't have the form, not to worry as we will assume the minimum and ensure that you cover all the necessary skills to become an Open Water Diver. If it has been more then 12 months then you will need to start over. The cost to upgrade from Scuba diver to Open Water Diver is 280,00 Euros

I have completed my Pool/Confined sessions and now want to complete my Open Water dives in Lanzarote? How do I do it and what is the cost?

Please email us a copy of your signed training form and bring the original with you. We can then complete your 4 open water dives. The cost is 250,00 Euros.
